Dear Partner,
As I sit at my cluttered desk this winter evening, I ask the question, “What is truly important?” If I had my life to live over, would I choose to be what I am and do what I do?
I am, by destiny and choice, a preacher of Christ’s Gospel and a winner of souls. I have done this for 50 years and have no plan to quit, until the Lord bids me sleep awhile until “the morning breaks and the shadows flee.” But until then, it is my solemn vow and intention to pluck as many brands as possible from the burning, and to save as many souls as God calls.
Here is a text for you and me: “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” (Daniel 12:3)
I have a great interest in astronomy. When times are tough and problems are many, I love to walk outside on a dark night and look up at the stars. Those tiny pinpoints of light represent massive suns that are fueled by nuclear energy. They have been burning for millions even billions of years; we think in terms of days, weeks, months, years, decades, and centuries. God’s stars last for billions of years. In our own Milky Way Galaxy there are around 200,000,000,000 blazing suns. The Bible says that those who turn many to righteousness will be like those stars. This means God’s soul winners will shine on forever and ever.
Listen carefully, dear friend, and ponder well these words: when you help win a soul to Christ and set that person in the way of righteousness, you will be rewarded with the gift of a life that outlasts the stars. Yes, one day, this earth and the stars will pass away, but the person who wins souls to Christ will go on shining for all eternity. Think about it.
If I had my life to live over, I would chose to do what I am doing now. If I were a poor boy again at Avondale College, I would choose to be a humble preacher of Christ’s Gospel and a winner of souls. THIS WORK IS THE ONE THING THAT OUTLASTS THE EARTH, THE STARS AND THE UNIVERSE, BECAUSE A REDEEMED SOUL WILL GO ON LIVING FOREVER.

MISSION TO PAPUA NEW GUINEA
The challenges are great but nothing is too hard for the God who made the stars. Dates for this giant outdoor campaign are July 27 to August 12, 2012. We expect more than 100,000 souls every night in the national outdoor stadium. Logistics are daunting but our hope is in God. We expect that this huge outreach which will influence the whole nation will cost $500,000.00. Please let your faith rise to this momentous occasion. “Let us arise and build.”
MISSION TO RUSSIA & UKRAINE
This will be my forty-first visit (yes 41st!) to the former Soviet Union since 1991. We plan to leave on May 21, 2012. I will, by God’s grace, be preaching in Nizhni Novgorod, Dzinsk, Volga Auto Plant and Kiev. Please partner with us as we reach out to the people of these desperately deprived areas of the world field.
MISSION TO CHINA
The Chinese Church leaders wants us to conduct a field school of evangelism with all the Chinese pastors from the mainland in attendance. I confess to you, this invitation has me almost overwhelmed. The costs are huge, but dare I turn my back on what could be a momentous opportunity for Christ?
Please, tonight walk outside and look up at the stars. If the sky is covered with clouds, try another night, but do it. Find a dark spot away from the city lights, and look up. Those stars tell you and me there is an almighty God. The Bible tells us this great Creator became a man, lived among us, and died to save us from our sins. Never forget it. The hand that flung the stars in space was the hand that was nailed to the cross for us. How great is His love. Just before going home He told us, “go into all the world, preach the Gospel, and make disciples of all nations…”
Please, dear partner, let us together work to turn many to righteousness. Please give your very best gift for Jesus who gave himself for us. Never, never forget that the great God who made the stars is more than able to take care of us and supply all our needs. (Philippians 4:16)
Please write to me today and please let us so obey His command to preach the Gospel, that we will shine like the stars forever and ever.
