It’s wonderful how some times, out of the blue, God hits you between the eyes with a message.
It happened to me three years ago in London at Kensington Palace. Beverley, Susan and Javier Piraino, were inside Princess Diana’s house looking around. I was outside hiding behind a tree at the back of the building. I had just finished a tough series of meetings in a Moslem city and I was peopled out. I wanted solitude. So here I was where no one could find me, when all of a sudden my name was called. I looked up and a couple was running towards me. The story they told was more than amazing and more than wonderful. It was a one in a billion chance, but then, with God there are no chances, are there? The husband and wife told me they had watched The Carter Report on television in a little town outside London. Their satellite was so bad, they could only get one station and that was the station we were on! They had as a result given their lives to Christ and been baptized. Someone in far away Australia had recently called them to let them know I might be visiting England, but did not know when or where. The couple had prayed about it, and as a result felt impressed to travel to London and go to Kensington Palace, of all places. There they found me sitting under the tree. They were overcome by amazement. They had arrived at just the right place, at just the right time. They urged me to keep on preaching the Gospel because they were living proof that Jesus is mighty to save. They told me how God had delivered them from atheism through The Carter Report television program, and how they had felt impressed to go looking for me. It was like finding a needle in a haystack.
Just think! What chance was there that they would find me? I’ve figured it out, and I think it is less than one in a billion!
A few weeks ago I was visiting the new Parliament House in Canberra, Australia. The Aussies spent more than a billion dollars on that building where legislators debate laws that govern the Australian nation. Once again, God sent a couple with a message for me. The giant building was almost deserted, and I was surprised when my name was called. Here were friends from 30 years ago. Eddie and Nancy Pietz have been missionaries in some of the toughest places on Earth. They are some of God’s saints and they gave me a word of wisdom that God wanted me to hear: “The thing that counts is evangelism, winning souls to Christ. Everything else in the church is of secondary importance.”
Never, never, never forget it, friend. Save a soul, and that soul will live for all eternity. One soul is so important that Jesus would have gone to the cross if there had been only one lost soul.
This is why we are going to Africa, because “The thing that counts is evangelism.”
It’s not going to be easy; it may even be dangerous for me personally, but souls are going to be in heaven because of the Johannesburg campaign. God has made an appointment for us and by His grace, we plan to keep it.
I need to raise $500,000.00 for evangelism (the preaching of the Gospel of Christ) now and time is running out. I need to raise money for the following projects:
- The cost of taking twelve pastors from Communist China with us to Johannesburg for training.
- The cost of advertising the meetings on radio and television in Africa.
- The cost of proclaiming the Gospel Message throughout South Africa and many other African countries.
- The cost of broadcasting the Message to the lost masses in India.
We all can do something. If 50 people gave $10,000.00 each, the money would be raised. If 500 people gave $1,000.00 each, the money would be raised. If 1,000 people gave $500.00 each, the money would be raised.
Remember the widow who put into the treasury a little coin? It counted more because she gave all she had.
Please, please be my partner in this great outreach to the city of Jo’burg. WE START IN FOUR WEEKS, and are going ahead in faith.
