December 2012

Dear Carter Report Partner,

German soldiers on the dreadful Russian front who were severely wounded usually recovered.  Their comrades-in-arms with minor injuries usually died.  Why?  Those who were severely wounded knew they would be going home to Germany.  Their wounds were their passport.  This expectation of seeing family and friends gave them hope, and hope heals.  Those with minor wounds knew they were stuck in Russia, and hope died.  Remember, the death of hope always leads to the hope for death, and the soldiers without hope simply gave up.

We all need hope and Jesus gives hope. Just imagine if Christ had not come to Planet Earth!  Turn the trees grey, the flowers black, the rivers indigo, the lakes brown, and the sky an angry purple, and that is how the world would look without Him.  Most men and women without God live lives of quiet desperation, just like the soldiers left behind in Russia.

The Carter Report, thanks to your help, has had a good and blessed year.  We have traveled to Russia, Ukraine, India and Papua New Guinea sharing our hope in Christ.  We have seen some of the biggest crowds in the history of Christianity, and as Christ was preached, we saw hope light up a million faces.  All this has given us a rich sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.  We believe that God is using us for a greater purpose, and we are grateful to you for your valued partnership.  Thank you.

God’s hope is better than a worldly hope.  God’s hope rests upon His promises.  Man’s hope is merely wishful thinking.  We live in hope of the glory of God, because Christ has guaranteed our salvation in a better place, in a better time.  We have this hope in the coming of the Lord, a hope steadfast and sure, an anchor to the soul.

Next year we want to light more candles of hope.  We do not wish to sink down into a useless religiosity or a complacent bureaucracy.  We are prepared by His grace to go anywhere, provided it be forward.

China looms on our horizon.  We wish to distribute vast quantities of DVDs that present Christ, the world’s only hope.  We want to proclaim the Word more fully.  We want to touch lives with Jesus.  We want to proclaim the Message of our loving Savior wherever lost souls need hope.

We are prepared to lay all on the altar, and that includes our possessions.

Please accept our grateful thanks for your partnership.  Please continue to help light candles of hope during 2013.  Please write today.

May the God of all Hope bless and keep you,

John Carter
