November 2012
Dear Partner,
The year has wings on its feet and is flying away. Soon it will be Thanksgiving, and then Christmas with Mr. New Year poking his head around the corner.
This year 2012 has been packed full of good things, great things, ordinary things, and some things quite extraordinary. This year I celebrated 50 years in the ministry preaching the Gospel of Christ. In May we took a trip to Russia and Ukraine to encourage, exhort and uplift the believers. More recently we went into full battle mode when we stormed Satan’s citadel in Papua New Guinea. There we saw the white Dove and the power of God. For all these events and many other blessings, we praise God and thank Him with all our hearts.
But it’s not over, and there is more to do.
I think of David Livingstone. Some years ago I visited his memorial at Victoria Falls in Africa. Then I recalled his halting words to a British audience when, for a brief interlude, he had reluctantly returned to his homeland. He described standing on a hillside and seeing, “the smoke of a thousand villages.” All those villages, he said, were “without God and hope in the world.” It was this sight that drove him on and back to Africa.
I know how he felt. I too have stood on a hillside and seen, as it were, the smoke of a thousand villages.
We want to do more, not less. We want to quickly finish our new television series. This was shot at the Sir Guise Stadium, Port Moresby, with more than 100,000 souls in attendance. I want you to see these meetings with your own eyes and to feel the powerful presence of God.
We want to broadcast 17 hours of these programs across Papua New Guinea, the Solomons, South Africa, India, and selected markets in North America. Pastor Jim Gilley and Brother Danny Shelton of Three Angels Broadcasting Network have graciously agreed to telecast these messages around the world.
This will touch hearts and change lives in a way that is bigger than we have tried before. We are not holding back. I am determined to do all and everything for God, as He gives wisdom, grace, and sufficiency. “No reserve, no retreats, no regrets,” is our watchword.
History tells us that churches tend to settle down and die a long, slow death. It is easier and more comfortable to just maintain the status quo. That is a trend I have spent a lifetime resisting. Either we go forward or we go backward.
We need to lift our sights. We need to ask God for the vision of the smoke of a thousand villages. We also need to catch sight of the white Dove of God.
I am praying that the Lord of the Harvest will give The Carter Report ministry a million dollars — soon.
A million dollars for souls. We can do it and God will help us, and return it with blessings pressed down and running over.
Let us go forward together in faith, attempting great things for God, and expecting great things from God.
Please, in Jesus’ name, let us resist modern religious trends, and the deadly tendency to sleep on as the world hurtles to destruction. Let us dare to be different for God. Let us leave footprints in the sand so others may find the Way.
Please write today. Thank you in Christ’s name.
Yours In the Blessed Hope,
John Carter
P.S. Happy Thanksgiving. May your soul be bathed in an atmosphere of love and thankfulness.
